Three Found Dead in Bhaderwah Guesthouse; Asphyxiation Suspected

Bhaderwah, Jammu and Kashmir, October 26, 2023 – Three individuals were found dead inside a guesthouse in Bhaderwah, a hill station in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda district, early this morning, sparking a police investigation. Preliminary investigations suggest that asphyxiation may be the cause of death, though authorities are awaiting post-mortem reports for confirmation.

The deceased have been identified as Mr. Ramesh Kumar (age 35), Ms. Priya Sharma (age 30), and Mr. Ajeet Singh (age 28), all believed to be tourists from Delhi.

Their bodies were discovered by the guesthouse owner around 6:30 AM this morning. The owner, Sanjay Mehta, immediately alerted the local police.

Police and forensic teams arrived at the scene and secured the guesthouse. The bodies have been sent to the District Hospital in Doda for autopsy. A thorough investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of death and ascertain the circumstances leading to the tragedy.

“We are investigating all possible angles, including accidental asphyxiation due to a faulty gas heater, or any other foul play,” said a senior police officer speaking on condition of anonymity. He added that the guesthouse’s premises are being thoroughly examined for any clues.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community. Bhaderwah, known for its scenic beauty, is a popular tourist destination, and the unexpected deaths have raised concerns about safety and security in the area.

The police are appealing to anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward and assist in the investigation. Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses. The police are expected to release a more detailed statement later today.
